CHAYA

チャヤ

茶屋

Chaya is one of the common rest areas from the Kamakura era to the Edo era. As a resting place, it has developed as a restaurant that sells tea and confections according to the customer’s order.

Chaya for contemporary Japanese people is a place where we feel a sense of nostalgia. From overseas it is regarded as being representative of Japanese emotions.
