This garden was completed after 7 years by the design of Yoshiyasu Yanagisawa, who got the site from the fifth general Tokugawa Tsunayoshi.
The origin of the name comes from "Rikugi" in Kino Turayuki's "Waka (Classical Japanese Poetry) Collection." "Rikugi" is about the six basic tones of Wind, Give, Compare, Fun, Elegant, and Praise, which are the basic ideas of Classical Japanese Poetry.
He tried to create an atmosphere of Classical Japanese Poetry in his garden.
