What is Japanese garden

Japanese gardens witness the reproduction of many natural sceneries.

It seems this is called “見立て(mitate).” In technical terms. “枯山水(karesansui)” is the ultimate form of such expression; Mitate is used with only stone, tree and sand.

Karesansui condenses nature in a narrow space to connect with the spirit of Zen. It is good for putting one’s heart at peace while inside the garden.
