What is a Japanese garden?
日本庭園は多くの自然風景を再現した演出が見られます。これを「見立て」と言うそうです。枯山水は見立ての中でも究極形で「石・木・砂」のみを使用して表現されています。狭い空間に自然を凝縮させた枯山水は禅の精神と通ずる所があり、心静かに庭園の前で座禅し対峙するのも良いでしょう。
In the Japanese garden, you can see a production that reproduces many natural landscapes. This is called mitate. Karesansui is the ultimate form of mitate, and is expressed using only "stones, wood, and sand." Karesansui, which condenses nature
in a small space, has a place in common with the spirit of Zen.
