The second son of Munemitsu Mutsu, the original owner, was adopted by the Furukawa family, which led to the garden’s current name.
It is built with the Musashinodai’s slopes and lowlands. The overall configuration is a Western-style building on the hill, Western-style garden on the slope and Japanese garden on the lowland. As it has not been damaged greatly during the Pacific War, it is a valuable garden that keeps the blend of “Japanese and Western styles” of the Taisho era.
The first floor is mainly a dining room and a billiards room. It is a Western-style guest room.
The second floor is a private space, like a family room, that is all covered with tatami. The highlight is the "Condor style Blending of Japanese and Western styles:” a Japanese-style room built in a Western-style building.
