Omikuji
おみくじは、吉凶を占うためのクジです。
古代のみくじは、国の重要事項などを決める際に、神の意思を聞くための手段として使われていました。初詣でおみくじを引くという習慣は、鎌倉時代から一般的に行われるようになったといわれています。
Omikuji is a lottery used to divine good fortune.
In ancient times, omikuji were used as a means of hearing the will of the gods when deciding important national and other matters. The custom of drawing omikuji on New Year's visits to shrines is said to have become common since the Kamakura period (1185-1333).
